ASWF began as an idea by Former ASWF Promoter and Owner Aaron Polston and ASWF Hall of Famer “Luscious” Leonard Doan. The two got together one day and wanted to start a promotion. They thought of when to do it and what to call the promotion. They finally started the promotion on July 4, 1999 as the AWF (All-star Wrestling Federation). The first show took place on the same day in Polston’s sister’s back yard. It originally began as a family affair. After a successful first show the promotion would begin branching out. They would do shows in Wiener, Corning , and Walnut Ridge. AWF’s big break would come not to soon when the promotions first “big” show would take place in Clarksville, MS where the likes of Doug Gilbert, Dusty Wolf, Brandon Johnson, and on May 5 & 6 Handsome Jimmy Valiant would make an impact on the company’s future. During AWF’s rise as an independent promotion another promotion by the name of AWF, owned by Lee Cook, would threaten legal action if they did not change the name. Polston would simply add the “S” in ASWF. Not to long after that Polson and Doan would part ways. ASWF took a turn for the worst in 2003 with the health of the former promoter of the time was getting worse. Fortunately Polston would not let that get in the way of his new rising company. Four years later after the Payback event in Walnut Ridge , AR , Rickey Rowland would come to the promoter and would tell him of a building in Tuckerman that they could use as a stationary arena. Both Polston and Rowland would see the potential in the building. The old Dollar General building, which was used by the city at the time, was a complete mess and would take a great deal of cleaning to get it to an operational level. Polston and Rowland would come up with name of Valiant Arena after WWE Hall of Famer Handsome Jimmy Valiant, with his endorsement of course. The first show in the newly acquired Valiant Arena would take place on April 9, 2007 . Just as business was picking up for the promising independent promotion, Polston would decide to sell the company to David Walls, who is now the owner and promoter of the ASWF. ASWF continues to offer quality entertainment and keeps the ideals of running a family show. This to this date has proven effective. In late 2008 and early 2009, David Walls would buy the Valiant Arena from the city making it the only promotion in Northeast Arkansas to own its own venue. Nonetheless ASWF has show proven success in the last ten years and probably will for another ten. When you see an ASWF worker be sure to give them a pat on the back for helping get kids off the streets and giving them somewhere to go.
